Brighton Beach
Last updated October 2026
Brighton Beach is a big sandy beach on Gulf St Vincent, patrolled by the Surf Life Savers from the Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club on weekends and public holidays from October to April (patrol hours are not published on the council or club pages). The City of Holdfast Bay says the beach is known for being very family-friendly and safe, with cafés, the Esplanade Hotel and the jetty close by. Swim between the red and yellow flags when the lifesavers are on duty, and keep out of discoloured water after rain. Dogs must be on a lead on the beach from 10am to 8pm during daylight saving time. Within a short walk are Brighton Takeaway (about 197 m), Brighton Food & Wine (about 209 m), Brighton Jetty Bakery (about 218 m) and The Alchemist's Kitchen (about 226 m), with more cafés, restaurants and shops nearby.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
