Goolwa Beach
Last updated October 2026
Goolwa Beach is a long sandy surf beach looking across Encounter Bay, with the only vehicle access to the beach on this part of the Greater Adelaide coast. Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club volunteers patrol on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 12pm to 5pm (Christmas Day 2pm to 5pm), with hours extended on hot, busy days; in the 2025-26 season patrols ran from 11 October to 6 April, and the State Government also funded weekday professional lifeguards from 12pm to 6pm. A red and yellow flag flies on the Goolwa tower when lifesavers or lifeguards are on duty. Always swim between the flags: the club warns that swimming outside the patrolled area increases the chance of being caught in a rip. Alexandrina Council has rebuilt the beach car park and promenade. Kuti Shack is about 62 m away.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
