Pennicott Wilderness Journeys runs boat cruises and tours from its booking centre in the Dock Head Building, Franklin Wharf, on the Hobart waterfront. The Iron Pot Cruise leaves from Franklin Wharf, runs about 2.5 hours down the Derwent River to the Iron Pot lighthouse and Betsey Island, and departs at 2pm daily all year, plus 10am from December to April. Prices as of October 2026: adult $150, child (1-16) $130. The 3-hour Bruny Island Cruise departs daily from Adventure Bay on Bruny Island (adult $190, child 3-16 $115, family of 2 adults and 3 children $590), with bus and full-day options from Kettering and Hobart. The website says children of all ages are welcome aboard and that it is cold on the boats even in summer, so bring warm layers. Tours run daily except Christmas Day and bookings are essential. There is no parking at the Franklin Wharf booking centre.
