Millaa Millaa Falls

Families' Pick 2026 · Cairns: picked by the Funtivities team as a standout for families in Cairns.

Last updated October 2026

Heritage-listed 18 m waterfall on the Atherton Tablelands Waterfall Circuit; precinct upgrade works under way until mid-2027.

Millaa Millaa Falls is an 18-metre heritage-listed plunge waterfall near Millaa Millaa on the Atherton Tablelands, about 1.5 hours from Cairns, and the centrepiece of the Waterfall Circuit, which also takes in Zillie Falls (a viewing platform a short stroll from the car park) and Ellinjaa Falls, where water tumbles over old lava columns. Tablelands Regional Council describes the falls as Australia's most photographed cascades. As of 15 October 2026 a precinct upgrade is under way until about June 2027: the toilet block has been taken out of use (the nearest public toilets are in Millaa Millaa township, opposite the Millaa Millaa Hotel), parking areas and paths to the viewing areas may be disrupted or closed, caravans, trailers and oversized vehicles cannot park, access for people with limited mobility is very restricted, and the whole precinct may close for a day or two at times. A new toilet block, forecourt by the viewing platform, picnic tables and covered seating are planned. No entry fee is mentioned and opening hours are not published.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
