Volunteer surf life saving club at Coalcliff Beach on the northern Illawarra coast. Nippers is for children aged 5 to Under 14, through a Junior Development Program that combines fun at the beach with lessons leading to lifesaving and surf sport. Nippers is held fortnightly on Sunday mornings from 9:30am, with occasional 2pm Twilight Nippers depending on tides. Events include beach sprints, wading (U6-U14), surf board and swim races (U9-U14) and a pool swim for U8; the education side runs from flag meanings through to resuscitation and lifesaving skills. U6 and U7 receive a medallion for attendance rather than points. Nippers wear a club cap and pink rash vest in competition. A free underage group runs for children under 5 with a sibling or parent registered at the club.
