Cape Schanck Lighthouse Reserve, Mornington Peninsula National Park

Last updated October 2026

Heritage-listed lighthouse precinct on the cliffs of Mornington Peninsula National Park, with the 1859 lighthouse, a museum and the former keeper's residence; local operators run lighthouse tours. A short circuit walk from the car park leads to a wooden staircase and boardwalk down to the beach and rock platform, passing lookouts over Pulpit Rock and the Devils Desk. Take care on the rock platform, where large waves can wash across. The 5.4 km return Bushrangers Bay Walk (about 2 hours, sandy narrow paths with steep stairs) leads to a beach ringed by basalt cliffs, but swimming there is not recommended. The day visitor area has viewing platforms, picnic tables and toilets but no drinking water. Dogs are not allowed.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
