Dandenong Ranges National Park - Sherbrooke Forest (Grants Picnic Ground and Sherbrooke Falls)

Last updated October 2026

Sherbrooke Forest is the largest section of Dandenong Ranges National Park, a cool temperate rainforest of Mountain Ash and tree ferns about 40 km east of Melbourne. Grants Picnic Ground has accessible walks, including the Hardy Gully Walk, where lyrebirds forage in the early morning or late afternoon, and crimson rosellas and lorikeets visit. Nearby, tracks from Sherbrooke and O'Donohue picnic grounds give the easiest walk to Sherbrooke Falls, which flows most strongly after rain; those picnic grounds have a car park, picnic areas and toilets. The park is closed on Extreme Fire Danger days, and dogs are not allowed. Nearby: Grants on Sherbrooke (20 m), Genies Cafe (320 m) and Kallista Deli & Cafe (320 m); the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Garden is just over the road from Sherbrooke Picnic Ground.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
