Coolart Wetlands and Homestead
Last updated October 2026
A historic farm property 80 km south-east of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula, with significant wetlands. From the Observatory's one-way glass you can watch ducks, swans, swamphens and grebes, and birdwatchers can spot over 60 species; blue-tongue lizards and long-necked turtles bask on warm days, and koalas or echidnas are sometimes seen. The 1895 Homestead, stables and farmyard (with historic farm equipment and a shearing shed) can be explored, and the homestead lawns have free electric barbecues for picnics. The park is open daily 9am-5pm; the Homestead opens Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm (ground floor only).
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
