Austinmer Beach, on Lawrence Hargrave Drive, has two rock pools at its southern end and a beach pavilion, with a play area and local shops nearby. Accessible beach: free bookable beach wheelchairs, matting to the waterline in patrol hours, and 24-hour accessible toilets and showers in the pavilion. Patrol hours for the 2026-27 season: 9am-5pm daily from 26 Sep to 23 Oct 2026 and from 20 Mar to 25 Apr 2027, and 9am-6pm daily from 24 Oct 2026 to 19 Mar 2027; unpatrolled in winter. Council lifeguards usually patrol Monday to Saturday and volunteer surf lifesavers patrol Sundays and public holidays. Swim only between the red and yellow flags - no flags, no swim. Within a short walk are Austinmer Newsagency convenience store (about 80 m), Austi Cafe (about 80 m) and Shells Diner Cafe (about 90 m) (OpenStreetMap).
