Free 50-hectare city garden with glasshouses, the Rose Garden, wildlife and a free museum, open every day.

Adelaide Botanic Garden is a free public garden covering 50 hectares in the east end of the city, open every day of the year. Families can explore plant collections such as the Rose Garden and Mediterranean Garden, the glasshouses of the Palm House, Bicentennial Conservatory and Amazon Waterlily Pavilion, and spot wildlife including birds, turtles and lizards. The Museum of Economic Botany inside the garden is also free. Some events, often in the Conservatory or after hours, need a ticket. As of October 2026 (daylight saving hours, October to March) the garden opens 7.15am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6.30pm on weekends and public holidays; from April to September it closes at 5.30pm. Toilets with baby change tables are at five spots, and there are cafes and a restaurant. Bikes, scooters, ball games, tree climbing and pets are not allowed. The Botanic Gardens tram stop is about 100 metres from the North Terrace Main Gate, and paid parking is off Hackney Road.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
