Adventure Kayaking SA hires kayaks and stand-up paddle boards from the Garden Island Boat Ramp and Reserve (Lot 204 Garden Island Road, Gillman) in the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary, about 10 minutes from Port Adelaide. Staff set the boats up and supply a map and advice for a self-guided paddle of about 2 hours through the mangrove creeks; a 1-person kayak is from $39 and a 2-person kayak from $49. Guided Dolphin Sanctuary and Ships Graveyard tours of up to 3 hours also run. Children aged 8-11 must share a double kayak with an adult and under-18s must be with an adult. Hire mostly runs in spring and summer, Thursday to Sunday and daily in school holidays. Free parking and public toilets at the ramp.
