Wittunga Botanic Garden

Last updated October 2026

A 13-hectare botanic garden in the hillside suburb of Blackwood with water-wise plants from Australia and South Africa, spring displays of ericas and proteas, and a lake to stroll around while watching birds. Its fenced-from-the-road nature playspace, for children aged 2-12, has flower and nut cubbies with slides, a dry billabong, Frog Island with a musical frog and a wodli, a wheelchair-accessible in-ground trampoline, basket and toddler swings and a log scramble. Paths are flat bitumen; there are two toilet blocks with accessible toilets and change tables, drinking water and plenty of picnic tables and rotundas. Entry and parking (Shepherds Hill Road car park) are free. Open daily 8:30am to 4pm (6pm October-March); closed on catastrophic fire danger days. No food is sold on site; Blackwood is a 5-10 minute walk.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
