Last updated October 2026

Heritage observatory in Millers Point, Sydney, with 1-hour guided family tours for ages 6+ (Wed-Sun); children $24, adults $36.

Sydney Observatory, run by Powerhouse, is a heritage site and museum at 1003 Upper Fort Street, Millers Point, on the highest natural point in Sydney Cove. It is open Wednesday to Sunday. Guided Family Tours run every Wednesday to Sunday for small groups with children aged 6 and over and last about an hour. Families learn about flag signalling, weather measurement and the site's scientific history, then climb narrow staircases into the domes to see historic and modern telescopes in action. Children must be accompanied by an adult. As of October 2026, tickets are $24 for children aged 6-12, $32 concession and $36 standard, booked online. Tours include more than a hundred stairs, and some areas are not accessible for wheelchair users. Tours may be cancelled in wet weather, with a refund. Heritage conservation works are underway and may affect access to some areas.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
