Miniature steam train rides at West Ryde on the third Saturday afternoon of each month; entry $3 children, $6 adults, rides $2.50, online booking required.

The Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society has been at the corner of Anthony Road and Betts Street, West Ryde, behind West Ryde Marketplace, since 1948. It opens to the public on the third Saturday afternoon of each month, with rides on three miniature railways pulled by miniature steam locomotives. Gates open 1:30pm to 4:30pm from October to March and 1pm to 4pm from April to September (as of October 2026). Everyone, including babies, must book entry online in advance through the society's TryBooking link; there is no cash payment at the gate. The website lists entry at $6 for adults and $3 for children, babies free, and train rides at $2.50 each, bought online as a pack or inside the grounds. Every train passenger must wear fully enclosed shoes. Birthday groups book normal entry, as no areas are reserved. A recorded message is on (02) 9874 8696.
