Stockton Beach
Last updated October 2026
Long patrolled beach across the harbour by ferry, with a playground near the wharf, breakwall walk and shipwrecks.
Stockton Beach sits at the southern end of Newcastle Bight, with a long stretch of sand and dunes and views towards Port Stephens. Visit Newcastle suggests catching the Stockton Ferry from Queens Wharf, and notes an adventure playground near the ferry terminal. From the terminal, families can walk along the foreshore and breakwall to see shipwreck remains. Facilities include barbecues, a picnic area, a kiosk, toilets and parking. City of Newcastle lifeguards patrol Stockton Beach from 9am to 5.30pm between 26 September 2026 and 26 April 2027. Free, as of October 2026.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 14 October 2026.
