North Kirra Surf Life Saving Club
Last updated October 2026
North Kirra Surf Life Saving Club was formed in 1949 and has over 350 members; it describes itself as a small, family friendly club. It caters for children aged 5 to 14: 5 and 6 year olds take part in a program called Flippers, and from age 7 children become Nippers and can compete in local surf carnivals if they wish. Nippers runs on North Kirra Beach every Sunday from 8:45am to 11:30am, from 27 September 2026 to 7 March 2027, with a 4 to 5 week break over Christmas. One parent or guardian from each family takes on a volunteer role and must be at the beach at each session. Every child completes a pool swim proficiency before beach activities. Families join online through the SLS Hub.
