Last updated October 2026

Free lookout at the top of the Mount Lofty Ranges with views over Adelaide, walking trails to Cleland and Waterfall Gully, and a cafe.

Mount Lofty Summit is the peak of the Mount Lofty Ranges in the Adelaide Hills, about 15km east of Adelaide, rising more than 710 metres above sea level. The lookout gives panoramic views across the city skyline to the coast. Entry is free, though parking fees apply. From the summit, families can follow walking trails, including the gentle, low-gradient Steub Trail through bushland to Cleland Wildlife Park (about 3 hours, 7km return), the Heysen Trail, or the steep hike down to Waterfall Gully. The summit has a Visitor Information Outlet and gift shop, open 9am to 5pm daily (closed Christmas Day), and The Summit Restaurant and Cafe next door. As of October 2026, the car park gates are open 6am to 11pm from October to March and 6am to 9pm from April to September. The lookout is accessible, with accessible parking and toilets. Dogs are not allowed, and the park is closed on Catastrophic Fire Danger days and may close on Extreme Fire Danger days.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
