River Red Gum Loop, Shepherds Hill Recreation Park
Last updated October 2026
An easy 2.3 km Grade 2 loop of about 30 minutes in Shepherds Hill Recreation Park, 11 km south of the city, following Viaduct Creek with the option of continuing into Waitaparinga Reserve. National Parks and Wildlife SA suggests walking it clockwise and notes that there is no access through the archery club when its red flag is flying. The park has remnant grey box woodland and 360-degree views over the Adelaide plains, coast and hills. Access is via Ayliffes Road, St Marys, and Ellis Avenue, Eden Hills. Entry is free and the park is open daily, closing on catastrophic fire danger days.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
