Lysterfield Park
Last updated October 2026
A large Parks Victoria park in the southern foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, and one of the places near Melbourne to see wild kangaroos and wallabies (most active mornings and evenings). The Lake Circuit Trail is a 5.5 km loop (about 1.5 hours) with a mostly flat, wide gravel surface, two short hills and distance markers every kilometre; it suits off-road prams and bikes. You can sail, kayak or canoe on the lake, and there are 24 km of mountain bike trails including easy green trails. Two lakeside picnic areas have toilets, picnic tables and free electric barbecues. Car parks fill quickly, so arrive before 10am. Dogs are not allowed.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
