Macedon Regional Park (Mount Macedon Memorial Cross)

Last updated October 2026

Forested mountain park at the southern end of the Great Dividing Range, about an hour north-west of Melbourne. The Mount Macedon War Memorial Cross, Victoria's most significant war memorial after the Shrine of Remembrance, and the Major Mitchell Lookout are reached by sealed paths suitable for people with limited mobility (there are steps at the base of the Cross). There are six picnic grounds: Harbison has free electric barbecues, shelters, toilets and an all-abilities barbecue, and Sanatorium Picnic Ground gives easy access to the shady Sanatorium Lake Eco Trail. Crimson rosellas, king parrots and gang-gang cockatoos are often seen. The Top of the Range tea rooms are beside the Memorial Cross Reserve. Dogs on a lead are allowed.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
