CityCat and Brisbane River ferries

Last updated October 2026

Ride Brisbane River CityCats and ferries between St Lucia and Hamilton for 50 cents; under-5s free, child go cards free on weekends.

Brisbane City Council's CityCats and ferries are public transport boats on the Brisbane River, and a cheap way for families to see the city from the water. The all-stops CityCat (F1) runs daily between The University of Queensland at St Lucia and Northshore Hamilton, calling at a network of 22 terminals. Four Cross River ferry routes run by small KittyCat ferries (Bulimba to Teneriffe, Dockside to Sydney Street, Holman Street to Riverside and Maritime Museum to QUT Gardens Point) operate all day. CityCats have wheelchair and pram access, toilets on board and open decks for viewing. Translink says all fares are 50 cents per journey; children aged 4 and under travel free without a ticket, and children 5 to 14 with a child go card travel free on weekends. Pay by go card, contactless card or a pre-purchased paper ticket (not sold on board). Bulimba ferry terminal is closed from 9 November to mid-December 2026 for works. Timetables are on Translink, as of October 2026.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
