Brighton Beach (Dendy Street Beach)

Last updated October 2026

Brighton Beach at Dendy Street is the sheltered bay beach in front of Brighton's historic bathing boxes. Bayside City Council calls it a family playground where you can build sandcastles, and says families mostly swim between the red and yellow flags at its patrolled beaches. Brighton Life Saving Club volunteers patrol on weekends and holiday periods from November to April, usually setting the flags in front of the bathing boxes. The council lists paid parking at the life saving club and at Green Point, trains to Brighton Beach or Middle Brighton station, and buses 600, 922 and 923, with restaurants, cafes and bars within walking distance. In summer the beach is dog-free from 10am to 7.30pm. OpenStreetMap shows public toilets about 60 m away and Beach House Brighton cafe about 375 m away.
