Banks-Solander track, Kurnell

Last updated October 2026

A 0.7 km loop (15 to 30 minutes, Grade 2) in the Kurnell area of Kamay Botany Bay National Park, with panels on plants that Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander collected here in 1770. The mostly flat hard-packed track passes eucalypts, banksias and ferns, with an elevated walkway on part of it; uneven ground means some stepping up and down. The nearest toilets are at Commemoration Flat picnic area, where parking is. Park entry in the Kurnell area is $8 per vehicle per day; gates open 7am to 7.30pm. NPWS notes parts of the Kurnell area are closed for upgrades in 2025-2026 and the Kurnell Visitor Centre is closed while a new one is built. Nearby on OpenStreetMap: Steve & Effies (499 m).
