A beach day in Adelaide with kids
This is a beach day along Adelaide's Gulf St Vincent coast, mixing three patrolled beaches with two council playgrounds. West Beach, Glenelg Beach and Wigley Reserve are 9.3 to 9.9 km from the centre, and Angus Neill Reserve and Seacliff Beach are 13.4 and 14.1 km out. Every stop is free. It suits kids of all ages, with the playgrounds listed for ages 2 to 14.
You will need a car, so treat this as a menu. Lifesavers patrol on weekends and public holidays, so the whole plan works best on those days. Swim between the red and yellow flags. Pack hats, sunscreen and water, and barbecue supplies, as both reserves have barbecues. Check the beaches' official pages for current patrol times.
Every stop is a listing on Funtivities, checked against the place's own website. Last reviewed 24 October 2026. Prices and hours can change, so check the listing before you go.
