Vickers Vimy Exhibition

Free exhibition of the restored 1919 Vickers Vimy aircraft in the Adelaide Airport terminal, open 8am to 8pm daily.

The Vickers Vimy exhibition at Adelaide Airport displays the restored Vickers Vimy converted bomber (registration G-EAOU) that Adelaide brothers Ross and Keith Smith flew in the 1919 Air Race, the first official flight from England to Australia. The crew left Hounslow, London on 12 November 1919 and reached Darwin 28 days later. The exhibition covers the air race, the aircraft, its four-man crew and the flight, and the website has lessons, a teacher's guide and an interactive story for students. The exhibition is on the ground floor of the terminal, opposite the entrance of the Atura Hotel, on Sir Richard Williams Drive. As of October 2026 it is open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, every day of the year. Entry is free. School groups can visit self-guided or book a volunteer guide.
