Tahune Adventures Tasmania

Last updated February 2026

Tahune Adventures is an immersive forest experience located deep in the Huon Valley, approximately a 90-minute drive south of Hobart. Its centrepiece is the renowned Tahune AirWalk, a 619-metre elevated steel walkway that allows visitors to stroll through the treetops, 40-50 metres above the forest floor. The walk offers spectacular views over the confluence of the Huon and Picton Rivers and into the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Beyond the main canopy walk, the site features two swinging bridges suspended over the rivers, a cable-controlled Eagle Hang Glider, and several kilometres of walking trails. It provides an accessible and unique way for families to appreciate the scale of Tasmania's giant forests. **What to Bring** Sturdy walking shoes. A waterproof jacket as the weather can change quickly. A camera for the incredible views. Binoculars for spotting birdlife in the canopy. **Best Age Range** The main AirWalk is fully accessible and suitable for all ages, including toddlers in prams. However, children aged 6-12 will likely get the most out of the full experience, as they are old enough to confidently tackle the wobbly swinging bridges and longer walking tracks. The Eagle Hang Glider has height and weight restrictions suitable for older kids and teens. **Good to Know** Ample free parking is available on site. Bookings are strongly recommended, especially during school holidays and for the Eagle Hang Glider. There is a cafe in the visitor centre serving light meals, snacks and coffee. The main AirWalk is wheelchair and pram accessible, but other trails involve stairs and uneven ground. **Nearby** Combine your visit with a trip to the Hastings Caves State Reserve, a 45-minute drive further south, to explore spectacular dolomite caves and swim in the naturally heated thermal springs pool. **Tips From Other Parents** Allow at least three hours to experience the AirWalk, both swinging bridges, and one of the shorter forest trails. The drive from Hobart is very scenic but has many winding sections, so factor that in if your kids get car sick. The swinging bridges can be a bit daunting for younger kids, so it's best to walk across with them.
