Sorrento Beach is one of two City of Joondalup beaches, with Mullaloo, that the council calls local favourites for swimming. Kitesurfing is banned in an exclusion zone that runs 200 m into the water off Sorrento and Mullaloo, so the water close to the beach is kept free of kites.
