Scenic World

Last updated October 2026

Blue Mountains attraction in Katoomba with the world's steepest passenger railway, a cable car, the Skyway and rainforest boardwalks.

Scenic World in Katoomba, about 90 minutes from Sydney, has three rides into and over the Jamison Valley: the Scenic Railway (listed by Guinness as the world's steepest passenger railway, at 52 degrees), the Scenic Cableway and the Scenic Skyway, plus rainforest boardwalks on the valley floor. A day pass gives unlimited rides and re-entry on the day, and the site suggests allowing two to three hours. As of October 2026, Unlimited Day Passes start from $38.40 for kids and $64 for adults, and kids under 3 go free. Booking online is recommended, and in school and public holidays tickets are often online only. It is open every day of the year, generally 10am to 4pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends, school holidays and public holidays. Rides run in the rain in enclosed cabins. Prams can go on the Cableway, the Skyway and parts of the boardwalk, but not on the Railway. The site is cashless, parking in the multi-storey car park is free, and seasonal events such as Dinosaur Valley run at times.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
