Scarborough Beach

Families' Pick 2026 · Perth: picked by the Funtivities team as a standout for families in Perth.

Last updated October 2026

Perth's busy surf beach with year-round lifeguards, the Whale Playground, a skate park, beach pool and a free family play trail.

Scarborough Beach is the City of Stirling's most popular beach, on The Esplanade at the end of Scarborough Beach Road, with white sand, big waves and lifeguards all year round. Next to the sand, Scarborough Reserve has the Whale Playground, which includes accessible play, plus picnic shelters, public barbecues, fitness equipment and public toilets. The foreshore also has showers, drinking fountains, a beach pool, an amphitheatre, a skate park and a bouldering wall. The Scarborough Beach Play Trail, launched in June 2026 with Nature Play WA, is a free 1.5km self-guided trail that starts at the Clock Tower and uses the Play Trails app, with eight stops of challenges and quizzes; it takes about 45 minutes, is pram friendly and suits children about 6 to 14. Local surf schools run lessons, and the Scarborough Sunset Markets bring food and music. The free Surf CAT bus runs from Stirling Station every 10 minutes, and there are about 1,200 parking bays. Details as of October 2026.
