Last updated October 2026

2.5-hour guided harbour kayak tour in Hobart with fish and chips on the water, for ages 7 and up, October to April.

Roaring 40s Kayaking, a Tasmanian sea kayaking operator established in 1996, runs a 2.5-hour guided Hobart City Kayak Tour from Sandy Bay to Constitution Dock, paddling past Battery Point, tall ships, fishing boats and the docks, with a chance of seeing seals, dolphins and sea stars. No paddling experience is needed and stable double sea kayaks are used. The tour is suitable for ages 7 and up; children under 16 must be with an adult and share a kayak with them or a guide. The tour runs October to April. The 10am departure includes fish and chips from a Constitution Dock fish punt, eaten on the water; a 7am departure in December and January includes a hot drink and breakfast snack. As of October 2026 prices are $140 for adults and $85 for kids aged 7-16, including guides, kayaking gear and warm paddling jackets and pants. Spots are limited, so book ahead. Free parking is available on Marieville Esplanade, and the tour starts on the beach near the last sculpture of the Battery Point Sculpture Trail.
