Python Rock track, Green Mountains (Lamington National Park)
Last updated October 2026
A 3.1 km return walk (allow about 1 hour, Grade 3) from the Python Rock and Morans Falls trailhead on Lamington National Park Road, 4.9 km from the park entrance in the Green Mountains section. The track passes through rainforest with buttress roots, booyong and fig trees, then open eucalypt forest with grass trees and wildflowers; tree identification signs line the way. It ends at Python Rock lookout, a constructed lookout facing Morans Falls, Castle Crag and Mount Razorback, and a popular sunset spot. In late spring and summer listen for the 'popping' masked mountain frog. The track is not wheelchair accessible; the Centenary track from the same trailhead is. Wheelchair-accessible toilets are at the Green Mountains day-use area.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
