The NSW Schoolhouse Museum is housed in the restored first schoolrooms of North Ryde Public School, built from 1877, on Cox's Road. It runs hands-on history excursions for primary school classes, where students write on slates, use ink pens and early printing equipment, and learn about school life and communication in the past. The museum is mainly a school excursion venue. It is usually staffed 9:30am to 2:00pm on school days during term and is closed on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Members of the public can visit by appointment only, when staff are free and no school group is booked, and vacation care groups are not taken. As of October 2026, school excursions cost $24 per student with accompanying adults free. Bookings are made by email. There is no on-site parking, and the building has steps, with a portable ramp available on request.
