Free city art gallery by Civic Park with family-friendly facilities, a parents room and changing exhibitions.

City of Newcastle's art gallery beside Civic Park, operating since 1957. General admission is free and includes the ground floor galleries showing the permanent collection; first floor galleries hold changing exhibitions, some of which need a paid ticket. Visit Newcastle lists the gallery as family friendly, with a parents room, cafe and shop, and free guided tours with volunteer guides. Current exhibitions include Angela Tiatia: The Matildas (to 7 February 2027). Open Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm, as of October 2026.
