Fort Tomaree Walk

Last updated October 2026

Fort Tomaree walk in Tomaree National Park is an easy walk on a paved track around the lower slopes of Tomaree Head to the World War II gun emplacements built in 1941, with interpretive signs along the way. It is 2.5 km return and takes 1.5 to 2 hours (Grade 3); there are some steep sections and the paving can be slippery when wet. The walk begins near Zenith Beach (the pin), and a picnic area shaded by angophora trees is nearby. Humpback whales pass in winter and spring, so bring binoculars. It is not wheelchair accessible. Zenith Beach is a sanctuary zone, so no fishing or collecting. OpenStreetMap shows drinking water about 230 m and toilets about 290 m from the start.
