Freemans Campground

Last updated October 2026

Freemans Campground in Munmorah State Conservation Area is a grassy, landscaped NPWS campground in bushland near Birdie Beach, which the park service promotes for a family camping escape. It has 39 marked sites for tents, camper trailers and caravans (up to 6 people per site), many shaded by trees, with toilets, cold showers, drinking water, covered barbecue areas, picnic tables, rubbish bins and a car park. The long sandy Birdie Beach is a short walk away, with fishing, surfing and bushwalks nearby and whales passing in winter. Camping fees are paid when you book online (up to 20 people or 5 sites), and the park entry fee of $8 per vehicle per day is extra. Entry is gated: the area is open 5.30am to 9pm in spring and summer and 5.30am to 7pm in autumn and winter. The northern end of Birdie Beach is a designated nude bathing area.
