Fingal Head Lighthouse Walk

Last updated August 2026

A short, flat walk (~1km, about 30 minutes return) along a track that's paved for most of its length, turning to dirt near the end, leading out to the historic Fingal Head Lighthouse and panoramic ocean views. Easy enough for young kids, and genuinely worth timing for winter (June-Nov) when it's a solid whale-spotting vantage point. Just south of Coolangatta/Tweed Heads, about a 20-minute drive from central Gold Coast. What to Bring Sun hat, water, comfortable shoes (the last stretch is unpaved) Binoculars in whale season Best Age Range 3-17 - short and flat enough for young walkers, with enough of a view payoff to hold older kids' interest too. Good to Know Free, no booking, open access. Basalt "Giants Causeway"-style rock formations are visible near the headland - a good talking point for kids.
