Watkins Southside Swimming is a Royal Life Saving Society endorsed swim school, running since 1974, that teaches learn-to-swim lessons, squads and competitive swimming for children from 4 years old. Lessons follow Royal Life Saving stages 1 to 17, up to Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross. As of October 2026, lessons are held at the Penrhos College pool in Como (entry via Murray Street); the Wesley College pool in South Perth is being rebuilt. Term 4 2026 runs from 12 October to 18 December, with afternoon lessons twice a week on weekday pairs or a Saturday morning program. The 20-lesson weekday term costs $450 early bird or $480 standard, and the 9-lesson Saturday program costs $216 or $231 (lower rates for Penrhos students). January holiday lessons run in two-week daily blocks. Private 30-minute lessons cost $60. Enrolment is through an online form, and KidSport vouchers are accepted.
