Thornbury Bowls Club, at 27 Ballantyne Street, Thornbury, is a not-for-profit lawn bowls club dating from 1907 with a synthetic green for year-round bowling, a grass green, a deck and barbecues for hire. Groups can hire a barefoot bowls rink; as of October 2026 the standard price is $160 for 2 hours or $240 for 3 hours, with peak and off-season rates, and up to 8 people per rink is suggested. Casual walk-in bowling is $15 per person, and a 12-month Social Bowling Membership costs $60. Book rinks online. Children must be supervised at all times, and playing in the sand or throwing bowls is not allowed. Only runners or bare feet are allowed on the greens, with no food or drink. Opening hours are Tuesday 6pm to 10.30pm, Wednesday to Friday from 3pm, Saturday from 12pm to 10pm and Sunday 12pm to 7pm; it is closed Mondays.
