The Corner at State Library of Queensland

Families' Pick 2026 · Brisbane: picked by the Funtivities team as a standout for families in Brisbane.

Last updated October 2026

Free drop-in play and learning space for kids 0-8 at State Library of Queensland, with stories, art studio and giant blocks, 9.30am-4pm daily.

The Corner is State Library of Queensland's playful learning space for children aged 0 to 8 and their families, on Level 1 of the library in the South Bank cultural precinct. It has songs and stories every day, a messy-play art studio, giant soft-play building blocks, reading and exploration nooks, a little stage, and a garden courtyard. Entry is free and it is open for drop-in play from 9.30am to 4pm daily; some special workshops and events need a booking or a low-cost ticket. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Groups of more than 10 people (such as childcare or playgroups) are asked to email ahead. A Parents Room behind the Level 1 Welcome Desk has an accessible toilet, baby change and a microwave. The library publishes a visiting story with pictures to help children, including those with disabilities, prepare. Paid parking under the library is entered from Stanley Place, and the Cultural Centre busway is nearby. Details as of October 2026.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
