Serendip Sanctuary

Last updated October 2026

A Parks Victoria wildlife sanctuary at the foot of the You Yangs, 60 km from Melbourne and 22 km north of Geelong, where families can see kangaroos, wallabies, emus and some of the 150 bird species that visit, from bird hides around Lake Serendip. Four interconnecting walking trails start near the Information Centre, each no longer than 2 km return, with wide, flat compacted-gravel paths suitable for prams and assisted wheelchairs. A sensory garden with five accessible nature spaces opened in early 2026. The picnic area has electric barbecues, tables and an accessible toilet. During construction works (scheduled until the end of October) the sanctuary opens 8am-4pm, barbecues are unavailable, portable toilets are in use and the Wildlife walk is closed. No dogs or pets; no rubbish bins.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
