Queen Victoria Market

Last updated October 2026

Melbourne's historic 1878 market with fresh produce sheds, food hall, open-air stalls and free family events; closed Mondays and Wednesdays.

Queen Victoria Market is Melbourne's historic marketplace, trading since 1878 on the edge of the CBD. Families can wander the fresh produce sheds, the Meat and Fish Hall and the Queen's Food Hall, and browse open-air stalls selling home goods, fashion and gifts. The market runs regular free events; for example, a donut festival in the C-D Sheds on 17 and 18 October 2026 was listed as free and welcoming families and children, with no booking needed. Trading hours as of October 2026 are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6am to 3pm, Saturday 6am to 4pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm; it is closed Monday and Wednesday, and specialty shopping opens at 9am. The market is in the free tram zone (routes 19, 57, 58 and 59), has undercover and open-air car parks entered from Queen Street, and free bike and scooter parking. An Information Hub is on the corner of F Shed and Queen Street. Renewal works are under way around the market.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
