Statewide not-for-profit linking NSW families with children aged birth to five to local playgroups; membership is free and group fees vary.

Playgroup NSW is a not-for-profit organisation that connects families with playgroups across NSW for children from birth to school age. Community playgroups are run by local volunteers and are lightly structured, informal gatherings where babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children play alongside their parents or carers, usually at venues such as council community centres. The organisation also runs supported playgroups and parent support groups, including groups for carers, families with disability or developmental delay, intergenerational groups and First Nations groups. Families find a group with the Find a Playgroup search on the website. They can attend two sessions before joining, then need a Playgroup NSW membership, which is free (Playgroup+). Each playgroup usually charges a small weekly fee set by the group; supported playgroups have no fee. The website recommends contacting a group before your first visit. Phone 1800 171 882 (in NSW).
