Play Matters Australia, founded as Playgroup Queensland in 1973, is a national organisation that runs and supports playgroups for children aged 0-5 and their parents or carers. It is not a single venue: hundreds of community playgroups, usually coordinated by volunteers, are affiliated with it, along with supported playgroups led by a paid play expert, inclusion support for children with additional needs, and the Sing&Grow music therapy program. Families stay and play with their children at every session. Families can search for a playgroup near them on the website. The Play Pass membership for children aged 1-5 is free for Australian families attending an affiliated group, and includes insurance at sessions, access to the online Play Hub and free events.
