National Rock Garden
Last updated October 2026
Outdoor display of large Australian rocks and fossils at the National Arboretum Canberra, with a treasure hunt game for kids.
The National Rock Garden is a display of large rocks from across Australia and Antarctica, including fossils and minerals, set out in Forest 13 at the National Arboretum Canberra on Forest Drive, about 100 metres north of the Arboretum's Village Centre and car parks. Signs and QR codes on the plaques explain each rock, and the website has a page for every rock in the collection. Children can play the Treasure Hunt game: pick up a treasure map at the Arboretum's information desk, print one from the website or play online, follow the path and solve clues. Show the finished game at the Arboretum information desk to claim a small reward. A self-guided tour can also be downloaded from the website. Prices and opening hours are not published on the website.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
