Namadgi National Park
Last updated October 2026
Namadgi National Park protects 106,095 hectares of alpine, sub-alpine and mountain bushland, almost half of the ACT, on Ngunnawal Country. Admission is free. Options include walking tracks, camping, picnics, wildlife watching, heritage sites, swimming and more than 400 km of management trails for mountain biking. Start at the Namadgi Visitor Information Centre, about 2.7 km south of Tharwa on Naas Road, for maps, firewood and advice (card payments only). The easy 1 km Woodland Walk (Grade 2) starts there. Campgrounds include Honeysuckle, Orroral and Mount Clear (bookings needed). Some roads are unsealed, and the park is still recovering from the 2020 Orroral Valley bushfire and floods.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
