Free 24/7 lookout at Brisbane's highest point with city and bay views, a cafe, free parking and walking tracks up from the bush below.
Mt Coot-tha Lookout is Brisbane's highest point, a heritage-listed lookout in Mt Coot-tha Reserve with views across the city and out to Moreton Bay. Brisbane City Council says it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so families can visit during the day or at night to see the city lights. There is a cafe and a gift shop at the lookout. Drive up via Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, where free parking is available, or walk up from the J.C. Slaughter Falls Picnic Area on the Summit Track (1.9 km, about 30 minutes, mostly paved with some stairs) or the Mahogany Trail. Mt Coot-tha Reserve is the city's largest natural area, about a 15-minute drive from the CBD, with 9 picnic areas and walking tracks; the Brisbane Botanic Gardens are at the base of the mountain. Entry is free. Details as of October 2026.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
