Outdoor harbourside cinema run by the Darwin Film Society, screening nightly in the dry season with family films and a kids' ticket of $11.

Deckchair Cinema is an outdoor cinema on the edge of Darwin Harbour, run by the not-for-profit Darwin Film Society. It screens films every night of the dry season, from family favourites to Australian and foreign films, with 250 deckchairs and 150 straight-backed seats under the stars. Cushions are provided. Local caterers serve dinner each night and there is a licensed kiosk; you can bring your own picnic but not alcohol. The box office and kiosk open at 5:45pm. As of October 2026 tickets are $20 for adults, $11 for children 5-15, $16 concession and $47 for a family (2 adults and 2 children 5-15); children 4 and under are free, and online bookings have a $1 fee. Tickets are sold online and at the box office; buying online is recommended as sessions can sell out. Screenings go ahead in rain unless there is a heavy downpour. The 2026 season closes on 15 November 2026. Parking at the cinema is free after 5pm, and it can also be reached by stairs from the Esplanade.
