Opal museum in Windsor, Brisbane, with a self-guided tablet tour; entry $10 per person, under 5s free, family pass $39.

The Brisbane Opal Museum at 201 Lutwyche Road, Windsor, displays a collection of opal specimens, with an opal jewellery shop under the same roof. Visitors walk around at their own pace with a 10-inch tablet that plays more than 30 videos explaining the displays (about 30 minutes to an hour). As of October 2026, entry is $10 per person, free for carers and children under 5, and a family one-day pass is $39 for two adults and up to three kids or $29 for one adult and up to three kids. A guided tour runs on Wednesdays at 1pm and must be booked. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can choose an opal and watch it being cut and polished, with no booking needed. The museum is open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm.
