City of Melbourne arts venue in Birrarung Marr running artist-led workshops and shows for babies to 13-year-olds; book each event.

ArtPlay is the City of Melbourne's creative venue for children and families, in the red brick building next to the playground in Birrarung Marr, behind Federation Square. Children from babies to 13 years work with artists in workshops, exhibitions, events and performances. The program changes through the year; as of October 2026 it lists sessions such as a Korean home exhibition for 0-5s, a drop-in creative play event for ages 5-12 and Inside Out sessions for ages 2-7. The venue is only open when events are on. Most programs need a booking, made online or by phone on 03 9658 7880 (10am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday). Prices vary by event and are shown on each listing. For most workshops for under 7s, a parent or carer stays and joins in. ArtPlay is nut-free and does not take group bookings or birthday parties.
