Friday 18 December 2026 to Sunday 31 January 2027

Government schools finish Term 4 on Thursday 17 December 2026 and students go back on Monday 1 February 2027. Check your school for planned development days. Independent and Catholic schools can differ, so check your school's calendar.

Sport and active (6)

Learn to Sail for Kids and Teens (Summer School Holidays): Fri 18 Dec 2026 to Fri 22 Jan 2027. Ages 7 and up. $460 ($160 for RFBYC members). Junior dinghy learn to sail courses run by the club's Training Centre for ages 7 to 17 over the summer holidays. December courses run 8am to 3pm over three days; January courses run 8am to 1pm over four days. Registration is in the participant's name and Australian Sailing training course terms apply; junior members pay the member price. Separate courses: 16-18 Dec 2026 (only 18 Dec falls inside. Tackers 1: Fri 18 Dec 2026. Ages 7 to 12. $395 per student. A beginner Tackers sailing course for children aged 7 to 12 with 20 hours of tuition, equipment including a lifejacket, full personal insurance and a National Tackers Certificate on completion. Children must be water confident. The December course runs 14 to 18 December, 8:30am to 12:30pm daily; a Tackers 2 course for graduates of Tackers 1 runs the same dates from 1pm to 5pm. VacSwim summer programs 2026-27: Sat 19 Dec 2026 to Thu 28 Jan 2027. Ages 5 and up. January program 1 $32.00 single ($20.50 concession, $85.50 family); January short program $16.50; January program 2 $32.00. Venue entry fee is excluded. Government-run holiday swimming lessons for children aged 5 to 17 across swimming stages 1 to 16, held at more than 175 pools and beaches around the state. Three summer programs are offered: January program 1 (nine days, 40 minute lessons), January short program (five days, 35 minute lessons) and January program 2 (eight days, 45 minute lessons). Summer Holiday Swim 2026-2027 (Mount Claremont): Mon 21 Dec 2026 to Fri 29 Jan 2027. Ages 2 and up. Price not published. Summer holiday intensive swimming lessons for kids aged 2 to 17, from toddler classes (2+) through Levels 3-5 (5+) to squads and an intensive carnival squad. Lessons are 30 minutes for most levels and stroke clinics, 45 minutes for squads, with staggered class times. January 2027 Holiday Swim Program (Gosnells): Mon 4 Jan to Fri 29 Jan 2027. Ages 3 and up. Block 1 cost per student - $126; Block 2 cost per student - $113.40. An intensive Learn to Swim program run in two blocks over the January holidays, with classes between 8am and 12 noon. Learn to Swim is for ages 3.5 years and up (including adults) and SwimFit is for students competent at Level 6 and above. Full payment is due at enrolment; a 5% sibling discount applies. VacSwim at Arena Joondalup (Joondalup): Tue 5 Jan to Thu 28 Jan 2027. Ages 5 and up. Price not published. Department of Education VacSwim lessons held at Arena Joondalup for children aged 5 to 17. January program 1 runs 40 minute lessons between 8:00am and 4:15pm; January program 2 runs 45 minute lessons between 8:00am and 4:05pm with no lessons on Tuesday 26 January 2027. Holiday Craft Activities at City of Perth Library (Perth): Sat 26 Sep to Sun 11 Oct 2026. Up to 11 years. Free. Drop in to City of Perth Library for holiday craft activities during library opening hours. This is a free, unbooked option for families who need a flexible CBD activity. The Velveteen Rabbit (Claremont): Thu 7 Jan to Sat 30 Jan 2027. Ages 5 and up. Price not published. A puppetry show for families based on the book by Margery Williams, about a toy rabbit who becomes real through a boy's love. Performances run 10am and 1pm daily except Sundays, 50 minutes plus a 10 minute Q&A. Keeper Kids: Animal Adventurers (South Perth): Tue 5 Jan to Fri 22 Jan 2027. Ages 4 to 8. $89.00 per person (entry included). A kids-only school holiday program for children in Kindy to Year 2. Children follow clues around the Zoo and complete one of five adventures (Amazing Animal Families, Caring for Creatures, Same Senses Wild Places, Wildlife Search and Find, World of Animal Homes), each with hands-on activities, group exploration and experiences not open to general visitors.
